Check the app before you install it
- The developer name in the store listing is the licensed company or its trading name
- The website field in the listing points to the domain on the regulator's list
- An APK comes from that same domain, not from a chat group or a mirror site
- The operator has a licence line for the trading period 2025/26
Betting Apps Kenya shows how to tell whether a betting app or APK comes from an operator on the regulator's licence list, and what the Android, Google Play and App Store rules mean for betting apps in Kenya.
It is not the regulator, not an operator and not a review site. It links to no app download and names no favourite.
How to use this site
Find the operator on the list
Open the app check and look for the trading name or the domain. Every line comes from the regulator's list of licensed gaming companies for the trading period 2025/26, quoted exactly as published.
Compare the four fields
Developer name, website field, the domain an APK comes from, and the licence line. One mismatch is a reason to stop and report, not a detail to explain away.
Read the guide for your case
APK warnings, store rules, permissions, the ID photo, the M-Pesa prompt: each has a guide that names the rule and the section it comes from.

No rankings or ratings
Section 87(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 bars promoting the advertisement of a gambling activity without the Authority's approval, and this site holds none. A list of 'best apps' would be promotion, so there is no such list. Operators appear in alphabetical order by trading name.
No bonuses or promo codes
Regulation 9 of the Gambling Control (Advertising) Regulations, 2026 prohibits a call to action in gambling adverts and content that depicts gambling as a source of income. Bonus amounts and codes are exactly that, so you will not see them here.
No operator links
Operator domains appear as plain text, exactly as the regulator lists them, so that you can compare them with a store listing or an APK address. Nothing on this site opens an operator's site or starts a download.
Who this site is for
Adults in Kenya aged eighteen and over who are about to install a betting app, already have one and want to check it, or have been sent an APK and are not sure what it is. Gambling is for adults of the age of majority, which in Kenya is eighteen; the Gambling Control (Conduct of Gambling Operations) Regulations, 2026 (regulation 92) keep persons under eighteen out of gambling and gambling promotion.
The publisher's legal entity, contact channel and a named reviewer are not published yet, so the site runs in DEMO status and says so in the footer. Every page names the section of the Act, the regulation or the store policy it rests on, so that you can read the source instead of taking the site's word for it. The about page sets out what the site is and is not.
Questions people ask
Does a betting app need its own licence in Kenya?
No separate app licence exists in the Act. Section 28(1) of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 requires the gambling activity or service to be licensed, and section 67(1) names the online licence types: online bookmaker, online lottery and online casino. An app is one way of reaching that licensed service, so the question is whether the operator behind the app holds a licence line.
Where does the licence list on this site come from?
From the Gambling Regulatory Authority's page headed 'Licensed Gaming Companies for the Trading Period 2025/26', read on 28 October 2026. It has 187 operator rows and eight columns, and the regulator's site reports the page as last modified on 19 March 2026. Names and domains are reproduced exactly as published, and the regulator's live page prevails.
Are betting apps allowed on Google Play in Kenya?
Google Play lists Kenya among the countries where real-money gambling apps may be distributed, for online casino games, sports betting, horse racing where it is separately licensed, and lotteries. The developer must complete Google's application process, hold a valid licence for Kenya, keep the app free to download, rate it AO (Adult Only) and block under-age users and users outside the licensed territory.
Why does an Android phone warn me before installing an APK?
Android blocks installs from outside a trusted first-party store until you opt in. On Android 8.0 and higher this is done per source on the 'Install unknown apps' settings screen. Google Play Protect is on by default and may ask to send an unknown app to Google for analysis. The warning is the system doing its job; it says nothing about the operator either way.
Who is behind Betting Apps Kenya?
An editorial team working with AI tools under the editorial policy published on this site. The publisher's legal entity, contact channel and a named reviewer are not published yet, so the site runs in DEMO status and says so. It carries no advertising and no operator links, and it makes no claim of first-hand testing.
